YCIS is a well-known institute in the historic and scenic city Satara. This institute is a member of the biggest education Organization in Asia known as Rayat Shikshan Sanstha founded by the Great personality Late Padmbhushan Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil.

This is established in June 1958 as a science wing of Chh. Shivaji college Satara. It was established as a single faculty as science in June 1965. In 1986 it was named a Yashwantrao Chavan institute of science in honor of the 1st Chief Minster of Maharashtra Yashwantrao balawantrao Chavan.

YCIS Is honored as STAR College by DBT New Delhi. This college is one of the best colleges in Maharastra. This college has Reaccredited at A Grade with 3.37 Grade points by NAAC Banglore
